Welcome to Silverdale Cricket Club

The National Trust granted Silverdale Cricket Club (formed in 1893) a lease for 21 years to develop a new village cricket ground in December 1995. During 2018 negotiations for a new 15 year lease with the Trust were completed, securing our tenure for the immediate future.

Since 1995 the Club has raised enough money to erect a new pavilion with a club room, kitchen, bar area and changing facilities. Money has been raised from various activities including 100 Clubs, Gold Bond Draws, Coffee Mornings, Disco’s, Exhibition matches, and village appeals. We are always extremely grateful for the support we get from our local residents.

The club erected a Machinery shed to house the necessary ground equipment securely, with the labour mainly coming from club members.

For the 2020 season our senior teams will be in Division 1 and Division 3 of the Westmorland Cricket league, and we welcome both junior and senior players who want to take part in our cricket activities.

In recent years we have started a junior section and have approx. 40 local children turn up every week during the season to partake in junior cricket coaching sessions. During 2020 we will be entering sides in the Westmorland Junior League, and our teams continue to make good progress.

We are also canvassing local ladies who would like to play for Silverdale against other local ladies club sides. Contact Gill Letcher for more info - 01524 701154

The club has a qualified Club Welfare Officer to ensure that all safety practices are carried out and monitored, and we are ECB ClubMark Standard. Our Club Coaches offer good quality training to our juniors.

The club also boasts a very busy social life, with many activities taking place throughout the year, and we welcome everyone to join in and have fun. Our fully licensed bar is open on match days if you fancy a “cold one” whilst watching the cricket. Keep an eye on the club calendar for more news.

If you clear the right boundary, you go from Lancashire into Cumbria with some ease. Fancy a go?
